What is a Community Car Scheme?
Community Car Schemes are one of the most flexible forms of community transport and make a significant contribution to the movement of mainly elderly residents in rural locations across Lincolnshire. Community car drivers are all volunteers providing transport in their own cars for a small contribution towards the running costs. Journeys are organised by a Co-ordinator and available to anyone unable to access public transport. The volunteer driver picks up the client/passenger from their home, takes them to their pre-booked destination and brings them back home. The driver will wait with the passenger if required.
There are approximately 22 community car schemes across Lincolnshire; all are independent charitable, non-profit-making groups.
