In the present economic climate it can be very difficult to find jobs. There are a lot of people going after a few vacancies but there are a number of schemes to help you get a job and take the first steps on your career. The number, details and descriptions of schemes can change quite quickly but by following the link at the bottom of this page you will find information about:
- The Work Programme to help you prepare, find and stay in work

- New Enterprise Allowance – Help and financial support go set up your own business
- Work Placements for Jobseekers - For anyone aged 16-24 getting JSA the opportunity to take part in a work placement
- Travel to interview support – Discretionary fund that may be available to help you get to interviews
- In Work Credit– Financial support for parents bringing up children alone
- European Social Fund support - Training support for those who have been unemployed for a long period
- Work Clubs – Support to find the work available locally
- Help with drugs and alcohol problems that prevent you from working to help you if you’re not already getting treatment
- Sector-based work academies – Training, work experience and possibly support to gain some relevant qualifications
- Work Together Volunteering opportunities – Learn new skills with a voluntary placement
- Work Trials and Employment on trial – A trial doing an actual job to see how you get on.
- Work schemes for Disabled people includes Access to work and Pathways to work programmes
