The Council takes its responsibility to protect the environment very seriously and has been working on tackling the sustainability and climate change agendas for a number of years.
The Council has a Carbon Management Plan drawn up with the help of the Carbon Trust that focuses on reducing our emissions within the Council. All the Council’s projects are listed in this plan. This includes the ones already underway and those planned for the next couple of years. We have reduced our carbon footprint by over 19% and made financial savings equivalent to 58 medium households per year as a result. The different projects leading to these savings are listed on the NKDC projects page.
The Council also has a Carbon Management Plan drawn up with the help of the Energy Saving Trust to tackle reducing carbon emissions across the District. The plan includes details of all the different projects and activities that are underway and planned.
In 2007, the Council signed up to the Nottingham Declaration along with all the other councils in Lincolnshire.
The Council’s Climate Change Strategy was produced in 2009 and these actions together with the other plans are being delivered through the Council’s dedicated Sustainability Team.
