Procurement Lincolnshire recognise that the production and manufacture of timber based products has significant economic, environmental and social impacts. Sustainable forest management is about preserving forests as a source of life for all that depends on it. Procurement Lincolnshire believe that timber should be harvested in such a way that it does not threaten the range of associated goods and services that forests provide in contributing to human wellbeing, poverty alleviation and sustainable livelihoods.
Therefore Procurement Lincolnshire have decided to follow Central Governments policy on the purchase of sustainable timber.
The basic premise of the sustainable timber policy is that all timber or wood derived products purchased must come from a legal and sustainable source, (definitions of legal and sustainable can be found within the policy).
The policy is available online at www.cpet.org.uk

CPET - The central point of expertise on timber procurement. The CPET website should be visited by anyone that purchases timber or wood derived products.
CPET is a UK government funded body which provides free impartial advice, practical support and assistance. CPET’s helpline and website are free of charge for contractors and suppliers to Local Authorities. It contains lots of useful documentation and tools to help identify and check evidence of where the timber is coming from and how it has been produced.
