Aslockton

Archbishop Cranmer was born here in 1489, and here he received his early education in learning and manly sports. “Cranmer’s Mound” is really a part of some ancient earth-works and consists of two rectangular courts surrounded by a fosse. The latter is now nearly filled up and the shape of the mound spoilt by the removal of material for ballast.
