Highway Condition Surveys
We have extensive experience in the provision of highway surveys and data collection. This includes Deflectograph surveys, UKPMS Coarse Visual Inspections (CVI), Detailed Visual Inspections (DVI) and Footway Network Surveys (FNS). All UKPMS visual inspections are undertaken in accordance with the UKPMS Visual Survey Manual by accredited surveyors.
The Deflectograph is used to assess the structural condition of both flexible and flexible composite pavements. A known load is applied to the pavement through the rear wheels of the Deflectograph causing the pavement to deflect. The maximum deflection, which is related to the strength of the construction layers and subgrade, is recorded under both left and right wheels and used in modelling to predict future life of the pavement.
UKPMS is the standard system for the condition assessment of the Principal, Non-Principal and Unclassified road network. The assessment can cover carriageways, foots, cycle-tracks and kerbs. We are able to undertake surveys on any network and provide data in HMDIF format which should be compatible with any of the UKPMS accredited systems in use in the United Kingdom.

Deflectograph
Lincs Laboratory provides a comprehensive carriageway assessment service utilising its own Deflectograph, coring equipment and materials testing facilities.

UKPMS Visual Surveys
UKPMS is a standard for systems that assist in the management of the highway network for local authorities.
