The Lincolnshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation organises regular work parties to maintain and improve important butterfly habitats across the Limewoods area. Regular sites include Southrey Wood, Snakeholme Pit, and Chambers Farm Wood with work including coppicing, gardening for butterflies and grassland management. Work parties are usually advertised on their website and in the Lincolnshire Limewoods “What’s On” programme.
The group also encourages recording of butterfly and moth species across Lincolnshire to build up a better picture of their distribution, and is involved in an ongoing survey and management project in the Lincolnshire Limewoods to monitor the distribution of Brown Hairstreak populations. This project also involves encouraging their conservation via appropriate management and advice to landowners.
