Community Heritage Scheme
Three local heritage initiatives supported by the Limewoods Project have been successfully completed in Wragby, Bardney and Fiskerton.
The Lincolnshire Limewoods Project has been working with community groups across the area to develop local heritage projects under the Limewoods Community Heritage Scheme.
The scheme started with a series of talks on local heritage given by David Start from Heritage Lincolnshire. The talks were aimed at raising awareness of local history and heritage, and provided an opportunity after the talk to discuss ideas for projects in each area.
Five talks were held in Bardney, Fiskerton, Wragby, Woodhall Spa and Faldingworth. A wealth of ideas were suggested as projects, so in 2008 the Limewoods Project launched their Community Heritage Grant to support local groups to turn their ideas into reality.
So far we have offered grants to 3 projects in Wragby, Bardney and Fiskerton. A fourth group in Minting & Gautby developed a larger project and secured funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Your Heritage programme. Click on the right hand links to find out more about each project.
We would still like to hear from any other groups in the Limewoods area who would be interested in developing a local heritage project. We will also be developing a series of publications to help groups turn their ideas into reality. If you’ve been inspired by the projects we have already supported, please contact the Project Officer on 01522 552384 or by e-mail (liz.fleuty@lincolnshire.gov.uk) for more information.
