Live Weekend - bringing contemporary art to the Limewoods
Join us this summer for a weekend of performances, guides, talks and artworks at Chambers Farm Wood.
The Charter of the Forest Live Weekend will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th August 2011, running from 11am - 3pm each day. Situated amongst Lincolnshire’s historic woodlands, Charter of the Forest brings together six artists of which four have been commissioned to develop new work that draws upon the historic Charter of the Forest document, presented alongside existing video works which point towards key issues raised through the project.
Often known as the ‘Charter of the Common Man’, the Charter of the Forest was outlined as a complementary charter to the Magna Carter from which it originated, and was issued in 1217 by King Henry III. It provided new rights for ordinary people, permitting hunting, foraging and the free use of forestland.
New artworks will explore the social, historical and natural impact of the charter document, whilst also investigating our public use of woodlands today. The event will include performances, guided tours around the woodland, trails to the individual artwork sites - why not enjoy a day out viewing this project amongst the tranquil Lincolnshire woodlands? Artists include Via Vaudeville!, Richard DeDomenici, Tereza Buskova, Townley and Bradby, Carey Young and Boyd Webb.
Free coach travel to the woods is available on both days departing from The Collection, Danes Terrace, Lincoln at 11am and returning at 3pm. To book a place on one of the coaches go to www.charter.eventbrite.com or call 07783 951342
