These fun guides aim to help visitors and groups to explore and learn more about a range of sites in the Limewoods area.
They are related to themes that are special to the Limewoods area: Woods, Abbeys and Wildlife. Each guide gives ideas for resources you may need and a range of activities you can do - hopefully they will help inspire new ones too. They are not just for schools - any group wishing to make their visit fun and interactive will find them useful!
Each theme is available to download as a separate guide and includes:
- A description of the activities and the resources you will need
- The skills and experiences they develop
- Suggested sites and site information, including contacts for site owners
- Ideas and useful links to find out more.
There is also a separate guide called “Planning your Visit - Essential Safety Guidelines and information”. This will give you more information on what you need to consider before, during and after a self-guided visit to the Limewoods area.
Each guide can be downloaded from this website - click on the “Downloads” tab above. For more information on the Learning and Exploration Guides, please contact the Lincolnshire Limewoods Project on 01522 552384.
The Lincolnshire Limewoods Project would like to recognise valuable contributions in developing the Learning and Exploration Guides from:
Community Action for Wildlife (2005) “Fun in a Box”. A project in Nottinghamshire to develop resources for groups to take on site. A sample of these activities have been drawn on directly in these guides.
Greenwood Community Forest “Lesson in a Box’”. Resources for schools exploring Greenwood, Nottinghamshire’s Community Forest. Specific resources used include hedge dating activity, minibeast keys and make your own minibeast dial activity sheets. Visit www.greenwoodforest.org.uk for details.
