Habitats

The habitats of the Lincolnshire Limewoods have developed over hundreds of years through management practices such as grazing and coppicing. They therefore need active management to maintain their conservation interest. For example, within the woods are grassy meadows, such as Little Scrubbs Meadow SSSI, which are great for plants and insects, and long and open woodland rides which provide vital feeding space for many different butterflies. Active management is important to keep these habitats open so that they remain valuable for wildlife.
