There are many open spaces and sports grounds in Lincolnshire ranging from parkland to formal venues used for a particular sport such as football, horse or motor bike racing.
Open spaces and Sports grounds are important to us as they allow us to enrich our lives when away from work and provide safe areas for children to play. It is important however that we consider safety at our open spaces and sports grounds when planning events.
As you might imagine there is a wide range of legislation that affects open spaces and sports grounds and it is important that you comply with the relevant legislation if you choose to hold an event. Likewise there is lots of guidance and support available.
The main points to note are:
You may require a licence or need to submit a Temporary Event Notice under the Licensing Act 2003. Advice on this is available through your local district council or through this Culture - alcohol and entertainment.
You may require Planning Permission. Advice on this is available through your Planning Portal.
You may need to conduct risk assessments for fire and health and safety issues and produce an event management plan. Advice on this can be found by Lincolnshire Prepared.
Where the event is to take place at a formal sporting venue or temporary stands are to be erected you will need to consider the Sports Grounds Legislation. More on this can be found by following this Link.
