Building Regulations have three purposes:
- To ensure the health and safety of people in and around buildings.
- The conservation of energy.
- Access and facilities for disabled people.
The lead authority for enforcing building regulations is your local District Council Building Control Department although you can also use an Approved Building Inspector. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue is consulted on all plans for non domestic buildings.
The guides that both Building control and the Fire authority use are the current Building Regulations Approved Documents. These documents are available free to download from the link below or can be purchased at any good bookshop.
