The Freedom programme looks at why men abuse their partners and children, and to recognise the beliefs that they hold which allow them to do it. The Freedom Programme runs over a number of weeks in various locations around the County. This programme is open to any women who wish to learn more about the reality of domestic violence and abuse.
Main Aims of the Freedom Programme
- To help women understand the beliefs held by abusive men and the impact this has on them
- To illustrate the effects of domestic violence on children
- To assist women to recognise potential future abusers
- To help women gain self-esteem and the confidence to improve the quality of their lives
- To introduce women to the community resources, such as Specialist Domestic Abuse Services, Police, Sure Start, Children’s Services etc.
