Who suffers domestic abuse?
People who suffer domestic abuse, rarely experience one incident. Once begun, the abuse and violence will repeat itself. Domestic abuse that causes serious injury is mainly committed by men against women.

BME Communities
People in BME communities can suffer domestic abuse, including forced marriage and honour based violence.

Children
Children witness violence and abuse in the home in a number of different ways.

LGBT
Domestic abuse in the lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender community is a significant issue.

Men
Not only women are victims of Domestic Abuse. Men can be, and frequently are, also victims of abuse.

Older People
It is important that when we think of domestic abuse that we don’t forget that it can affect anyone of any age.

Women
Research has identified that at least 1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse at some stage in their lives

Young People
Young people are at greater risk of experiencing sexual assault and violence in their relationships than older people.

People with Disabilities
People with disabilities are more reliant on other people and/or aids and supports to meet their basic needs and fulfil their goals.
