Am I experiencing domestic abuse?

These questions may help you to identify if you are suffering from domestic abuse.

Are you:

  • afraid of your partner?
  • afraid of making your own decisions?

Do you:

  • feel isolated?
  • feel bullied or belittled by your partner?
  • feel as if you are walking on egg shells?
  • change your behaviour to avoid triggering an 'incident'?

Does your partner:

  • cut you off from friends and family?
  • tell you who you can be friends with?
  • tell you what to wear?
  • try to control what else you do?
  • verbally abuse you?
  • physically hurt you?
  • threaten you or your children?
  • control the money?
  • force you to have sex or make unreasonable demands?
  • get jealous for no reason?
  • accuse you of being unfaithful?
  • say you are useless and couldn't cope without you?
  • have sudden changes of mood which dominate your relationship?

Is your:

  • partner charming one minute and abusive the next?

If you have answered yes to one or more of these questions you may be experiencing domestic abuse.
