Welcome to Lincolnshire’s dedicated website for anyone who is affected by domestic abuse, and for anyone wishing to learn more about the issue.  We hope that these pages will assist you.

Definition

The Government has defined domestic abuse as 'Any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members, regardless of gender and sexuality’.

In 2004 the Government, following a major consultation widened the definition to include family members, in recognition of the issue of Forced Marriage and Honour Based Violence.
An adult is someone aged 18 years and over.

The pages on this website will hopefully provide you with a range of information, advice and guidance on the subject of domestic abuse.  Links to other websites which provide access to advice and information on domestic abuse, are also listed in the Links section.

Always remember that it is possible for someone to identify which websites you have been looking at by checking the history on your computer. Please read carefully the page on Internet Safety.
