The woodland is located 1 mile south of Horncastle town centre on the Boston Road.
Once the County Council tree nursery the site is now a developing woodland where you can enjoy a quiet walk, watch wildlife or just sit and relax.
In 2002 a variety of trees and shrubs were planted by local schoolchildren and volunteers, a pond was created and a small willow bed and orchard area developed.
The trees are growing rapidly and the other habitats are maturing, making it a great place to visit. Regular visitors will be amazed at the difference as the area grows into attractive mature woodland.
More information, including a location map, can be found in the Horncastle Community Woodland leaflet under the Downloads tab above.
If you are visiting with children have some fun and try the activity and I-spy sheets under the Downloads tab above. Specially designed for visitors to the woodland they will make your visit both enjoyable and educational.
While you are in the area why not try one of the county council’s promoted walk routes from Horncastle? With a town walk, canal walk, countryside walk and a round Horncastle walk there should be one suitable for everyone. For the walk leaflets follow this link to the Lincolnshire Walks search.
