Can I close a PRoW on my land?
Paths can only be closed following a legal order to do so. The County Council does have powers to make public path Extinguishment Orders. However, before making any order the County Council must be satisfied that the Public Footpath or Bridleway is no longer needed for public use. The Council will also take into account the effect, which the extinguishment of the right of way would have on the land served by the footpath or bridleway.
There are charges for processing an Extinguishment Order. For advice please contact the Rights of Way Section on 01522 782070 or by sending an email to: countryside_access@lincolnshire.gov.uk
