Accessibility Guidance

The provision of a more accessible public rights of way network is a key focus of the Lincolnshire Countryside Access and Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP).

In recent years there has been an increased demand to open up more of the County’s countryside to users with limited mobility.  An assessment of the accessibility of the rights of way network to users with limited mobility and visual impairment was undertaken during the preparation of the ROWIP.  The survey recognised the diverse range of abilities and concluded that people with disabilities are required to plan ahead and need good path surfaces and facilities such as accessible car parking in order to enjoy a successful trip into the countryside

Lincolnshire County Council’s Countryside Accessibility Guidance outlines the legal framework in relation to disabled countryside access and provides a desired standard for the provision and maintenance of path furniture and surface improvement works.  The guidance can be downloaded from the Downloads tab above.
