Support for Teachers Delivering the Diploma

The Department for Schools and Families is offering a suite of support for school and college teaching staff delivering the Diploma this year.

Dedicated Diploma website

The first point of call for all aspects of support on the Diploma, including QCA produced curriculum and assessment guidance. www.diploma-support.org provides advice on delivering the Diploma and how the qualification is structured; offers bespoke training sessions; hosts online forums so teachers can share insight and best practice and includes a wealth of other personalised support tools and resources.

14 – 19 Website

A website, for information on the whole 14 – 19 reform programme. (Coming soon – the 14 - 19 case study library, where you can find case studies highlighting all aspects of the 14 – 19 reform programmes).

14-19 Briefing Sessions

It is still possible for schools and colleges to book a staff briefing to provide an overview of 14-19 reform, including information on the Diploma.  These will now run until September.  Please telephone 020 8735 2375 or email support@14-19Briefing.co.uk to book a session.

The 14-19 Reforms and You toolkit

A practical resource to help leaders and managers in schools and colleges disseminate key information about the 14-19 Reforms to staff.  There are two versions of the toolkit, one for schools and one for colleges. The toolkit complements the 14 – 19 briefing sessions mentioned above. The pack includes a booklet summarising the reforms, a short summary leaflet, a set of cards on key issues to prompt discussion, a memory stick with video material and a presentation that can be edited, a set of posters and a guide for using the materials.  The toolkit is available to order as a whole or the contents can be ordered separately from www.dcsf.gov.uk/14-19

The Diploma wall chart

A useful A3 sized wall chart for teaching staff to share with peers. The wall-chart offers clear, practical and digestible information about the Diploma structure, assessment and grading and the additional subject lines being introduced over the next few years. The wall-chart has been distributed by stakeholder groups and unions. Further copies can be ordered by telephoning 0845 3022260 and quoting reference 00371-2009POS-EN.

The new 14 - 19 Choices module can be found on the CEGNET website; a one-stop-shop to support practitioners involved in careers education, information, advice and guidance. 14 - 19 Choices is an excellent resource with up-to-date facts on the 14 - 19 reform programme. Choices
