Social Communication

Six sections have been produced to help teachers address the following issues within the classroom:

  1. Attention and Listening;
  2. Vocabulary and Concepts;
  3. Processing and Comprehension;
  4. Expressive Language;
  5. Phonological Awareness;
  6. Social Communication.

Children who have difficulties with

  • The basic skills of communication
  • Awareness of self and others – making and maintaining friendships
  • Modifying communication strategies according to the social context MAY be experiencing problems with social communication.

Children who are having difficulties with social communication will benefit from a structured approach incorporated into classroom routine to TEACH them the skills of social interaction.
