Patterns of family life vary and there is no one, perfect way to bring up children.
Good parenting involves caring for children’s basic needs, keeping them safe, showing them warmth and love and providing the stimulation needed for their development and to help them achieve their potential, within a stable environment where they experience consistent guidance and boundaries. Parenting can be challenging. Parents themselves require and deserve support, asking for help should this be seen as a sign of responsibility rather than as a parenting failure. This plan aims to achieve this it outlines the strategic approach, which will inform Lincolnshire’s Children and Young People’s Plan. It outlines how Lincolnshire will encourage positive and responsible parenting in Lincolnshire. This plan is based on the strategic needs assessment contained within the first refresh of the Children and Young People’s Plan 2007 – 2010.
The Parenting Journey supports the delivery, the vision and six strategic themes of the Children and Young People’s Plan and has been produced through collaborative working with parents groups, practitioners and members of the parenting Strategy Group.
