Parent Partnership Service
Lincolnshire Parent Partnership provides impartial information, advice and guidance to parents of children and young people about issues such as special educational needs, disability and school admissions. The aim of this service is to enable parents to feel encouraged and supported to make decisions and take actions to ensure the best outcomes for their child are reached.
The service upholds the trust and confidence placed in the service, its caseworkers and Independent Parental Supporters by being impartial. The service does this by:
- Striving at all times to reach the best possible outcome for each child, whilst respecting the individual needs of each parent and child
- Providing accurate, up to date and neutral information
- Not favouring any person, party or agency
- Having a Stakeholder Group with a wide representation and independent Chair
- Giving alternative sources of information such as the Advisory Council for Education (ACE); IPSEA so that parents may verify the information given by Parent Partnership
- Recognising that at times there may be a conflict of interest for Parent Partnership officers and Independent Parental Supporters and acting accordingly
- Liaising with other professionals at the request of parents - for the purposes of gathering information, rather than advocacy on behalf of the parent
- Providing ongoing training and support to Parent Partnership officers and volunteers that enforces the importance of impartiality
- Seeking feedback from parents who have used the service on issues such as impartiality, confidentiality, accuracy and use this feedback to inform future service delivery
The Parent Partnership Service in Lincolnshire comprises two different elements, both of which provide free and impartial information, advice and support to parents. They are;
- Special Educational Needs
- Choice Advice
