C Card Condom, Chlamydia Screening and Pregnancy Test Training

Target group

A one-day course for all professionals working with young people aged 13 to 19 years of age


To provide participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be able to deliver the C Card registration interview with young people aged between 13 and 19, to screen for Chlamydia and test for pregnancy.


To have an understanding of the Teenage Pregnancy Initiative and how this fits in with their organisational objectives, including the Sex and Relationships policy and the C Card Quality Standards

To have an understanding of the law in relation to the Sexual Offences Act, Confidentiality, the Fraser Guidelines and the Safeguarding Sexually Active Young People’s Policy

To be able to use condoms effectively and impart this information to young people

To be able to provide a Chlamydia Screen test

To be able to provide a pregnancy test and signpost young people to appropriate support services

To understand the concept of ‘Delay’ and how to support young people to make healthy choices about their sexual health

To be able to effectively signpost young people to the appropriate support services
