Teenage Pregnancy Strategy

The Teenage Pregnancy Team is part of the Public Health Directorate in Lincolnshire County Council.

The Lincolnshire Teenage Pregnancy programme has two targets:

  • To reduce the rate of under-18 conceptions
  • To increase the participation of teenage parents into education, employment and training

The key themes for the Lincolnshire Teenage Pregnancy Action Plan are:

Data management

Information is collated from national sources, Local Authority and Public Health systems to aid planning and performance management of the programme.

Prevention of unplanned pregnancy

Support is provided for professionals and parents to ensure young people can access the knowledge, skills and services they need to experience positive relationships and good sexual health.

Increase the participation of Teenage Parents into EET by supporting teen parents and their children to achieve better outcomes.

Accredited training courses are provided for teenage parents to help reduce the number of teenage mums and dads who are NEET and signpost young parents and parents-to-be to appropriate support services.

Workforce development

Training courses are provided to enable professionals to identify vulnerable young people and deliver the targeted support they need.

Information and communication

Information and key messages are shared with a wide audience including young people and partners to update them about the teenage pregnancy programme, local initiatives and signpost to services.

Conception Data

The under-18 conception data is published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Please see Local Authority data file.
