Before an Inspection

Ofsted will have access to a range of information about Local Authority performance prior to their arrival onsite. Inspectors will use this information to identify key lines of enquiry and plan inspection activities when on site.

Information such as evidence from previous Ofsted Inspection and regulatory activity, details of complaints via the whistleblowing hotline and other relevant published documentation will be used to build an understanding of service performance. Local Authorities will be required to prepare a collection of documentation for presentation to Inspectors upon arrival.

The notice period for an impending inspection will vary dependent upon the type time of inspection. Please refer to the relevant inspection page for more information.
