Built to replace a post mill c.1830, this tall tower mill worked by wind until 1944. The four patent sails drove three pairs of stones on the third floor, originally two French and one grey, but latterly two grey and one French. The French stones were taken out c.1920 and replaced with a kibbler as no flour has been made since the Great War. The sails were removed in 1949 and the cap followed suit in 1968. Milling continued by Blackstone oil engine power using the stones, with a new diesel engine being installed in 1960, itself replaced in 1962 following problems. It went out of use shortly afterwards however as electric motors took over any grinding or cleaning work with modern machinery.
